Personality Change Test: Measure Yourself Twice

Personality changes. The research on this is settled: most people drift toward lower Neuroticism and higher Conscientiousness and Agreeableness as they age, a pattern psychologists call the maturity principle. Big life events move the needle too, and so does deliberate work on yourself. What almost nobody has is a measurement of how their own personality has changed over time, because a feeling that you have changed is not a number.

That is the point of a baseline. Take the 120-question test today and you get 30 facet percentiles on record. Retake it in six months, or after the new job or a year of therapy, and your account holds both sittings side by side.

What a retake shows you

Every sitting is scored on the same instrument with the same age and sex adjusted norms, so your scores are comparable across time in a way that two different quizzes never are. Facet moves of 15 points or more get flagged as meaningful shifts, which separates real change from the ordinary wobble of answering on a different day. Retakers also unlock a dedicated set of change questions in the results Q&A: ask what moved, what stayed anchored, and what the shift pattern says about the period in between.

Why facets catch what domains miss

Domain scores are too coarse to catch most real change. A year of deliberate effort might move Self-Discipline 20 points while Orderliness stays exactly where it was; averaged into one Conscientiousness number, that progress shrinks to a rounding error. The 30-facet OCEAN personality test tracks each trait independently, so the thing you worked on is the thing you can see move.

How it works

120 statements rated 1 to 5, about 15 minutes per sitting. The instrument is the IPIP-NEO-120, the public-domain research version of the NEO-PI-R. Your first test is free and gives you five domain percentiles; the extended profile opens all 30 facets. Results are private, and every sitting stays in your account for the comparison.
