Zodiac Signs Mapped to OCEAN Personality Facets: Compatibility for Fun

This is not science. We want to be clear about that before anyone sends us an angry email. Zodiac signs have no empirical basis for predicting personality. The peer-reviewed literature on astrology and Big Five correlations is consistent: there is none.
That said, we did it anyway.
We took the traditional personality descriptions associated with each zodiac sign and inferred a full 30-facet OCEAN profile for each one. Aries gets high Assertiveness (E3) and low Cooperation (A4) because the archetype is competitive and direct. Pisces gets high Emotionality (O3) and high Sympathy (A6) because the archetype is deeply feeling and absorptive. Cancer gets the highest Altruism (A3) score of any sign because the nurturing instinct is the entire identity. Every facet for every sign was mapped this way, using the personality traits that astrology has attributed to each sign for centuries.
Then we built a compatibility calculator. If you take the 30-facet OCEAN personality test and unlock your extended profile, you'll see a "Zodiac Compatibility" section that ranks all 12 signs by how well their inferred facet profile matches yours. It uses the same facet-weighting algorithm as our real compatibility analysis: similarity on Emotionality, Trust, Orderliness, and Anxiety; complementarity on Assertiveness and Cooperation. The math is real even if the zodiac profiles are made up.
The result is weirdly compelling. People who score high on Conscientiousness tend to match best with Virgo, Capricorn, and Taurus, the three signs traditionally associated with discipline and structure. High Openness scorers match with Aquarius, Sagittarius, and Pisces. If you have low Agreeableness and high Assertiveness, your top match is usually Aries or Scorpio. The patterns make intuitive sense because the zodiac archetypes, whatever their origin, do capture recognizable personality clusters.
How each sign was profiled
Each zodiac sign received scores on all 30 OCEAN subfacets. A few examples of the mapping logic: Gemini scores 85 on Intellect (O5) and 80 on Gregariousness (E2) because the archetype is intellectually restless and socially fluid. Scorpio gets 85 on Achievement-Striving (C4) and 20 on Trust (A1) because the archetype is intensely driven and deeply suspicious. Leo scores 85 on both Assertiveness (E3) and Gregariousness (E2) with only 10 on Modesty (A5), which should surprise nobody.
Virgo ended up with the highest Conscientiousness domain score of any sign: 95 on Orderliness (C2), 90 on Self-Discipline (C5), 85 on both Dutifulness (C3) and Cautiousness (C6). Pisces got the lowest, with 25 on both Orderliness and Self-Discipline. These extremes are what make the compatibility rankings work; the distance between a Virgo profile and a Pisces profile on Conscientiousness alone is enough to push their compatibility score down significantly, regardless of where they align on other facets.
The compatibility score weights 11 relationship-relevant facets, not all 30. Emotionality, Trust, Orderliness, Self-Discipline, Warmth, Anxiety, and Anger are scored on similarity (closer is better). Assertiveness and Cooperation are scored on complementarity (moderate difference is ideal). Sympathy has an absolute floor at 25%, and Anger has a ceiling at 75%, meaning any sign with extreme scores on those facets gets penalized regardless of your profile.
Why we built it
Two reasons. First, people search for zodiac compatibility tests constantly, and showing them what a measurement-based personality framework looks like is more useful than another horoscope generator. Second, it gives extended profile users one more reason to share their results. "My OCEAN profile says I'm 87% compatible with Scorpio and 41% compatible with Gemini" is the kind of thing people screenshot and send to friends, and some of those friends will take the test.
If you want actual compatibility data based on two real personality profiles rather than one real profile and one archetype, that is what the compatibility report does. Two people take the 30-facet OCEAN personality test, and the report compares all 30 facets side by side with specific friction predictions and alignment strengths. The zodiac version is a toy; the compatibility report is the tool.
Take the 30-facet OCEAN personality test and see which zodiac signs your personality actually aligns with.
