The Imposter Who Is Actually Capable

You nailed the presentation. The room nodded at the right moments, someone said afterward that it was exactly what they needed, and the decision went your way. Then you got in the car, and by the second traffic light the whole thing had rearranged itself in your head into something you barely got away with. You were lucky the hard question never came. You were fluent because you over-prepared, and over-preparation is just a fancier word for not really knowing. By the time you pulled into your driveway you had arrived at the usual verdict: it went fine, and next time is when they finally see through you.
Take the free test and see if this is your pattern
Consider what you will not let yourself hear. The presentation was good because you are good at this. You are good at this. The evidence has been accumulating for years and you have quietly disqualified every piece of it as it came in.
That reflex, the instant demotion of anything you did well, is the thing worth looking at. It wears humility's coat, but it works differently. It is a specific machine, and once you see how it runs you can start to turn it off.
The ability is not the question
Your Self-Efficacy sits right where capability lives. Your Achievement-Striving pulls you toward finishing things and finishing them well. You are Active, so the output is steady and real. When someone in your life describes you, they use words like reliable and sharp, and they are not being polite. This is the part you keep trying to argue with, and it is the part that will not lose the argument. The work held up and people used it.
The fraud feeling tracks your relationship to being seen, and your competence is plainly there.
High Modesty is where this begins. Modesty in small amounts is grace. At your level it becomes a rule you enforce against yourself, a standing order that says any credit landing on you must be deflected before it can stick. You let the praise in, then quietly explain it away, so it never converts into a stable sense of I am the kind of person who can do this. The evidence arrives and dissolves. It arrives and dissolves. After enough years of that you have a résumé full of things you did and a self-image full of doubt, and the two have almost nothing to do with each other.
Why you never get to find out
The reason the fraud feeling never resolves is that you have quietly arranged your life so it can never be tested. That is what your floor-level Adventurousness is doing. You will pour enormous effort into the arenas you already command, and you will not step one inch toward the ones where you might be exposed as a beginner. The stretch role and any unfamiliar audience where you would be a visible beginner for six honest months, all of it stays off the table. You call it being sensible. What it actually protects is the fraud story, because a story that is never tested can never be disproved.
Low Trust seals the room. If people cannot be fully relied on, then their good opinion of you cannot be either, so their reassurance carries no weight. Someone tells you the work was excellent and you file it under things people say. There is no one whose verdict you would accept as final, which means there is no route by which the outside world could ever talk you out of the verdict you carry. You are the only judge, and you have already ruled against yourself.
Notice the shape this makes. Modesty deflects the proof you already have, and risk-aversion stops you generating new proof. Every door out of the fraud feeling is one you personally keep shut, and then you experience the locked room as evidence that the fraud is real.
The engine that ends in burnout
So what do you do with an accusation you can never answer? You outwork it. If you can just be twice as prepared as the situation demands, no one will catch the fraud, because there will be nothing to catch. The overwork is defense dressed as ambition. Your low Warmth and low Cheerfulness are the tell here: there is no pleasure in any of this, no warmth in the winning, just the grim maintenance of a wall you can never stop building because the thing on the other side of it, the fear of being found out, never runs out of energy.
And when the wall gets exhausting, high Immoderation steps in. At the end of a hard day you reach for a drink or the scroll to quiet the hum. You are anxious, and the anxiety needs somewhere to go at the end of days spent proving a negative. The self-soothing is the pressure-release valve on a system running far too hot for far too long.
This is a treadmill, and treadmills have one ending. You cannot outrun a fraudulence you refuse to disprove, so the running never stops, and a body and a nervous system that never stop eventually do. The burnout is written into the design, waiting on schedule. The very engine that has carried you this far is the engine that breaks you, and it breaks you precisely because it works well enough to keep you feeding it.
The good news is where the block sits
This part should matter most. Your problem is not that you lack the ability. If it were, this would be a hard fix, a matter of years of skill-building with no guarantee. Your problem is that you cannot feel the ability you already have. The block is psychological, a fear of the mirror, and psychological blocks move once you stop feeding them.
More output will not fix this, because no amount ever has. The recovery is letting one piece of evidence stick without demoting it. It is taking one small risk in a place you might be seen learning, so the fraud story finally meets a fact it cannot dodge. It is easing off the treadmill on purpose, before your body does it for you, and discovering that the sky holds.
You spent a whole drive home dismantling something you did well. Try leaving one thing standing.
